WHAT IS STEM?

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. These subjects underpin fundamental topics through a new generation of learning technologies. STEM based education integrates the four discrete subjects into one interdisciplinary learning paradigm. We, at the Irish STEM Institute, embed this innovative approach to teaching and learning in order to promote 21st century skills, invoke computational thinking and problem solving through real world applications. The interdisciplinary and applied approach has been embedded in the updated Project Maths curriculum due to the integral part that STEM encompasses for future careers. STEM is integral to a myriad of fields such as Medicine, Healthcare, Aviation, Artificial intelligence, Engineering, Accounting, Cyber Security, IT, Robotics, Climate Change, and many more. The Irish STEM institute prepares students fully for their final exams and in parallel, prepares them for their future endeavors in third-level education. Students learn exam techniques and study skills which explore SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound) study goals and revision plans.
